As traveling is getting ever more expensive, we’ve done our research to help you choose the best affordable hotels in Transylvania. The region is not only Romania’s number 1 destination but also one of the most beautiful corners in Central and Eastern Europe.
As we have plenty of articles on the best things to do and places to see in Transylvania, it’s now time we move to the less fun part of where to stay. We start with the best affordable hotels in Transylvania. If you’re more into small guest houses in the middle of nowhere, check again Uncover Romania for a new article in the coming weeks.
But for now, let’s start with the hotels, often the best choice if you need a no fuss no muss option after a long drive or flight.
To choose the best affordable hotels in Transylvania, we’ve used Booking.com, the same resource we’ve been using for years to book stays for our own trips or for our tourists. We used a simple, but reliable system to filter out the most relevant results. First, we chose Transylvania, for a stay of one week in September 2023 (4-10/09) for two adults. Then, we selected hotels only, we opted for free WiFi, private bathroom, and breakfast available. Next, we sorted the results by ”top reviewed” and focused only on hotels with a review score of at least 9.0. You can absolutely have a great stay in a hotel with a lower rating, but we needed a criterion to help us choose the very best. Last, we chose a price range from 50 Euro per night to 130 Euro per night.
After applying all these filters, we ended up with 67 results. To keep it relevant, we selected the hotels from the most visited cities in the region. We list the results below, starting from the lowest price. But keep in mind that most hotels have dynamic prices. They vary depending on the date of your stay and how far ahead you reserve.
We start with Brasov, a must-see historical landmark, set in the great Carpathians. Less than 3 hours by train from Bucharest, Brasov recently got a brand-new airport. With direct flights from Italy, UK, Spain, and Germany, Brasov is your best entry point to Transylvania if you’ve come for the history.
